COURSE DESCRIPTION: Participants will learn successful treatment strategies utilizing the S.A.N.E. approach (Sleep, Activities, Nutrition and Environment). Effective interventions and treatment can mean the difference between success and frustration in treating children demonstrating various delays, including PDD, Autism, LD, failure to thrive, depression, hyperactivity, sensory processing and language disorders. The course offers a neurological perspective and understanding of the sensory-motor and biochemical connections that impact developmental disorders and behavior in children, and provides the tools necessary to prioritize treatment and measure outcomes. Participants will receive a comprehensive companion manual and references to the clinical presentation and video case studies.

Objectives:
• Understand the role of sleep disorders in self-regulation and immune function and the role of sleep, stress, nutrition and various exercise programs on sensory processing and behavior.
• Describe the effect of stress chemicals on attention, communication, and behavior.
• Describe basic nutritional guidelines to enhance brain function, language and motor
development.
• Identify signs of biochemical imbalance that may contribute to language, motor and general developmental
delays, visual-vestibular deficits associated with autism, language delays, motor planning deficits.
• Identify sensory and metabolic issues that may be contributing factors in Central Auditory Processing
Disorders, auditory attention, listening skills and receptive language.
• Learn specific strategies to enhance outcomes and prioritize treatment for maximum effectiveness.
